This week has been all about apples.
We dehydrated apples.
We made apple juice. (This was the inaugural run for this juicer - we were honoured!)
And we made apple sauce.
Our apple sauce recipe is really straight forward.
We dehydrated apples.
The kidlets LOVE them. We can't dehydrate them fast enough! And I don't like to tell the kidlets not to eat healthy apples, so we keep the dehydrators going. Luckily it was a fabulous apple harvest this year and we have lots of apples from backyard trees.

And we made apple sauce.
Our apple sauce recipe is really straight forward.
Take an apple.
Cut it up.
Put it in a pot.
When you taste it you will find it's apple sauce you've got.
We have been singing our recipe all week (the tune is Yankee Doodle). And you can too.

Tomorrow is apple crumble ... yum.
We did this last year. The kids will always remember apple days. :)
ReplyDeleteHad lots of kids coming down the hall asking if it was apple festival and remembering when they did it "many" years ago.

Sounds like a yummy week! We are making applesauce tomorrow. We made blackberry crumble last week as we seem to have an abundance of blackberries growing in my yard. The kids loved it.
ReplyDeleteBlackberry crumble sounds fabulous. We have blackberries growing in the school yard - the kids are always coming in from recess purple. Love it.

Fantastic activities- how do you dehydrate apples and is that an electric pan you were using?
ReplyDeleteHi Julie
DeleteI use a dehydrator that my husband bought from a late night infomercial many years ago! You can buy dehydrators from big hardware/department stores. I always ask my students' parents if anyone has one, and every year we borrow one. You can also dehydrate in a really low oven - check it out online.

The kids loved the apple juice. I was surprised how many apples it took to make a jug of juice. No wonder undiluted apple juice is so expensive at health food stores!
