advice to new teachers

Way back when, when I was a beginning teacher, the advice that I received was not to smile until Thanksgiving.

This was my first class, a grade 4/5, in 1988-89.
It is obviously after Thanksgiving, since I am smiling!

Deb at Fabulously First is putting together a collection of loving advice to first year teachers.

Here's my advice.

And smile LOTS!

  2. Breakfast! Oh dear. I barely get up in time for that ... but you're right.

  4. And don't forget the protein powder in those shakes! I keep a mini blender on the counter with to go cups so that if I have a early morning meeting my breakfast is in the car with me.

    Great advice Sandi!

  5. Great advice...Especially the breakfast part. I couldn't leave home without it! I usually pack a mid-morning snack, too!
